Improve The Focus and Clarity of Your Clients Content With Ernest

Here at Offroadcode we're constantly challenging ourselves to improve the editor experience of our clients. Umbraco is a powerful CMS, and with great power comes great responsibility to ensure that we're not only making the front of our clients' websites look amazing, but to make the the back office as amazing and helpful as possible as well.

The content that clients write for their websites is on the front line of communicating with their customers. As such, it always benefits for them to be as clear and focused in their writing as possible. Which is why, inspired by the Hemingway editor, we built a new rich text editor for Umbraco that assists an editor with identifying areas in their content copy that might need their attention and provides suggestions on how to improve it.

We call it Ernest.

Ernest has also been an opportunity for us to look into integrating our experience with React into our workflow when working on property editors or other packages in the Umbraco backoffice, which is based on Angular. Ernest makes use of the Draft.js text editor framework, which is built upon React. We'll be writing more about the experience of using React in Angular for Umbraco packages in a follow-up post.

We'd love to hear your feedback on Ernest, and if you encounter any issues please feel free to submit them!
