Whether you're new to Codegarden or Umbraco (welcome! We're so happy to have you as part of our community!) or a veteran, here is a helpful list of terminology you'll hear at the conference. Brush up on your "Umbracian lingo" and have an easier time joining the conversation!

• Our - the developer forums available at [our.umbraco.com](http://our.umbraco.com/ "The community hub for Umbraco")
• DocTypes - define the page and make up of the content on an Umbraco site, so you would have a Blog doctype, a Homepage doctype etc. One for each type of page.
• Nested Content - [a package](our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensi.. "The Nested Content Package") that allows doctype types with doctypes! Very powerful.
• Property Editors - the widgets, textboxes and checkboxes that you can enter content into. A doctype is made up of multiple property editors.
• UaaS (aka "You ASS!") - Umbraco as a Service. Automated hosting of Umbraco in "the cloud" on Azure
• Packages - An installable plugin of goodies/functionality that some one else has written to extend the core Umbraco functionality.
• MVP - Most Valuable Person, someone selected by the community/HQ for their work done over the last 12 months
• AngularJS - The JavaScript framework that the back office of Umbraco is written in, uses version 1. Version 2 is now out so you might hear lots of talk about that; they are not compatible though so no easy upgrade, but it won't stop people from asking "When are you upgrading...?"
• Ole Erling - [the man, the legend](da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ole_Erling "Ole Erling's Wikipedia Page"). The music entertainer during Bingo every year. Sadly passed away earlier this year. Gone but not forgotten.
• uHangout - [weekly online chat show](uhangout.co.uk "The uHangout Website") with Warren Buckley, give it a watch.
• Skrift - The online unofficial [Umbraco magazine](skrift.io "Skrift.io"), give it a read (or [submit an article](skrift.io/write "Submit an article!")!)
• Unicorns - Yep, there will be mention of these. Sort of the [Umbraco mascot](twitter.com/naepalm/status/740549430059933696 "The Offroadcode Unicorn Mug (being used by Janae)"). Niels is known as the [Chief Unicorn](twitter.com/radiancebox/status/705885292574.. "The Chief Unicorn's purple shoes").
• XSLT - the original template language but has since been replaced by Razor (see below). Some still have misty eyes for the old days (known as the XSLT Alliance) but they are becoming a second class citizen of late.
• Razor - the new templating language in Umbraco.
• Bingo (really) - the highlight of Codegarden every year. Played after dinner on day two. Expect the unexpected!
• Retreat - Pre-Codegarden, 20+ people from the community and HQ are locked away at a secret location to discuss the next 12 months of Umbraco. The outcomes often make it into the key note.
• Pull Request (PR) - a way of pushing some code changes/corrections/improvements via GitHub to be considered for inclusion in the Umbraco code base.
• GitHub? - Where the [source code for Umbraco](github.com/umbraco/Umbraco-CMS "Umbraco on GitHub") lives.
• Azure - "the cloud" service offered by Microsoft.
• Courier - Black magic... syncs content between Umbraco sites. To learn more, ask Per.
• MVC - [Model View Controller](en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model%E2%80%93view%E2.. "Wikipedia can explain it to you!"), the preferred way of building websites. Google it for more info but that should do you if you know what it is.
• Surface Controller - ask [Shannon](twitter.com/Shazwazza "Shannon's twitter")...
• NuCache aka "Le Cache Nouveau" - The new way that Umbraco caches data (as compared to the old way)
• Nuget - a way of [managing packages](nuget.org "Nuget.org") within Microsoft's technologies (aka to Visual Studio solutions).
• Contour aka Umbraco Forms - [create forms](umbraco.com/products-and-support/forms "Umbraco has a full page on Forms")on your site and save the results into Umbraco

• #H5YR - "High 5 You Rock!" The cheery greeting you will hear most mornings and on any tweets if an Umbracian is sending out some thanks. Made up at previous Codegardens and stuck around.

• Tak - Danish for thanks, use it.
• Skål! (Pronounced: Skull!) - Danish for "cheers" when having a drink with friends, use it.
